ASHLEY SCHAHFER sHE/Her
In my early 20’s I spent a great deal of time absorbing every Women's Studies course offered and advocating for the many social issues our society faces. That passion for activism paired with a love for Arts and Design took me on a path to Architecture, satisfying both my needs of combatting an issue close to home and using my skill and passion for thoughtful design. One thing was always missing though and when I found it I knew it had a significant role in this journey, the outdoors unlocked my soul and took me to a place with real physical freedom. The outdoors empowered me to see my potential, it allowed me to escape the oppressive nature of disability that exists in the minds of our society. I now strive to use my knowledge, experience and skills to broaden the minds of those who have power over the built environment, from sidewalks and buildings to trails and viewpoints. Educating and empowering them to use inclusive practices through resources and first had experience and skill.
